  • Our SPW Committee on Academic Feminist Psychology is delighted to announce that, after a 5-year hiatus (thank-you, COVID), applications are open for our 4th Institute for Academic Feminist Psychologists for early career academic feminist psychologists. IAFP 2024 will be held from late afternoon June 18 through June 20, in conjunction with the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) convention in Philadelphia. See iafp-2024.org for more info and the application form.

The goal of the Institute is to create and sustain a national community of feminist academic psychologists. Through this network, we seek to help pre-tenure/post-doc/recently tenured academics network and add to their skill set so that they can successfully achieve tenure and build sustainable, meaningful careers.
For information on past Institutes see: https://www.apadivisions.org/division-35/news-events/news/2018/institute
Previous Institutes were in San Antonio (January 2012), Pittsburgh (March 2016), and Miami (June 2018). Many current leaders of Division 35 have attended, including APA President-Elect Debra Kawahara.

Please share our announcement widely with your feminist psychologist colleagues. Feel free to contact anyone on our committee with any questions.

  • Fateme Mohseni, Research Assistant, "Who Counts" Project at Texas A&M University, invites you to participate in a survey study aimed at understanding how senior women faculty (either tenured or in the academic/professional track) have experienced their career (PI: Dr. Jyotsna Vaid). They want to build on prior quantitative studies by using a qualitative approach that allows for retrospective and reflective accounts of your career trajectory.

They hope this study provides an opportunity to reflect on your career and contributes to improving the academic development of women faculty. If you fit the criteria, they invite you to participate in our survey. If you consent to participate in this study, your data will be used for research and educational purposes only. Taking this survey should take no longer than 20 minutes.

They anticipate commencing the analysis of the survey findings at the end of January. Please do not hesitate to contact Fateme Mohseni (f.mohseni@tamu.edu) if you have any questions or comments.

They thank you in advance for taking part in their study.
