Summer 2026 Writing Groups
The Summer 2026 writing groups will be open to all June 15 to August 15, 2026. Meetings will be held three different days and three times each week with two different formats. For the Monday and Tuesday groups, these are drop-in sessions for a quick touch base and quiet writing time. You are welcome to join as often as you like. For the Thursday group, we are trying a longer, more engaged format. Attendees for this group are asked to commit to being present MOST weeks (of course you can vacation) over the summer. The group will spend a longer time checking in on specific writing projects and providing a sounding board for writing roadblocks.
Mondays 11am - 1pm EDT
Tuesdays 1pm - 3pm EDT
Thursdays 12pm - 3pm EDT

“Networking for Career Transitions”
Friday, May 23, 2025 | 3:00 PM – 4:50 PM
Session Description: Career transitions can be both expected, as when you move from one stage of training to another, and unexpected, when openings arise or circumstances change. These transition points bring uncertainty and opportunity. At times of transition, networks of peers and mentors can provide connections, advice, and support for career development. Our panelists bring expertise from multiple sectors to a discussion of building and maintaining professional networks throughout a career.
Panel discussion and Q&A will run from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm, followed by a speed networking event.
Chairs:
Kate Arrington, Lehigh University
Sarah Shomstein, The George Washington University
Presenters:
Deanna Barch, Washington University in St Louis
Iiona Scully, Exponent
Amber Story, Former Science Manager
